The map was published in the magazine Histoire Le Monde National Geographic n 9 .
In the 16th century, fed myths about the "South land"; browsers such as Álvaro de Mendaña out to conquer of the South seas, exploring the world's largest ocean groped.
The map was carried out using the orthographic projection, reproyectando vector data and images to achieve a spherical planisferi. Then textures applied to the image of the relief and using several layers (seas, bathymetry, vegetation) were carried out adjustments to obtain a clear but integrated with the type paper texture image.
To achieve environmental map giving an antique look is added the meridians, Parallels and is elgirieron an appropriate font.
