3D map of Galicia for the 2024 Historia National Geographic calendar

A three-dimensional relief map of Galicia showing its four provinces and eight marked routes, made by EOSGIS for the 2024 Historia National Geographic calendar.

This 3D map of Galicia was made for the Historia National Geographic 2024 calendar. It shows the relief of the region between the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea, with Asturias to the east and Portugal to the south. The clouds drifting in at the edges are a reminder that this is an oblique view rather than a top-down plan.

The provinces of A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra are labelled, along with cities such as Santiago de Compostela, Vigo and Pontevedra. Along the coast you can read the names of rías, capes and islands, including Cape Finisterre, Cape Ortegal, Ons Island and the Cíes Islands.

Zoom in and eight routes appear as white lines, with their towns and stopping points: the Ruta da Costa da Morte, Ruta de Ortigueira a Betanzos, Ruta dos Ancares, Ruta do Courel, Ruta do Ribeiro, Ruta da Ribeira Sacra, Ruta do Baixo Miño and Ruta da Baixa Limia. Reservoirs and rivers such as the Miño and the Sil are also visible.

The calendar page that accompanies the map carries a note on the Roman walls of Lugo: they are more than 2 km long, have 10 gates and still keep 71 of their original 85 towers.
